Spring Break! Woo! Party Time!
What’s that? The kids are home?
Before you start reading this piece of solid gold marketing material, please fill out this 1 question survey. Thanks, pals!
Spring break used to be a hedonistic celebration of excess in the sun. It hits a little different now when schools are closed and the gremlins you spawned are home for two weeks, so let us at least help soften the blow.
Spring Break in a Glass
Caty went to Jamaica once on Spring Break many moons ago so we’re celebrating that with a Tip Top Proper Cocktails Jungle Bird over ice. Featuring rum, lime, pineapple and bitters, this wobbly pop is Jamaica in a can. Pair with tropical dishes like ceviche for a complementary fruity pairing, or with jerk chicken to balance out the spice.
Alternatives include the simpler vodka-Ting or a Red Stripe if you don’t want any fuss with your jerk chicken takeout.
No kids? Duh Day Calls.
Not blessed with a sweet little angel sneezing in your mouth or an absolute cherub pooping on your bedspread? You’re really missing out. Why don’t you hit up these no-brainers in honor of Duh Day. They’re some of our favorites when we don’t want to think about it.
Caty here, trying something new where you get both professional and extremely unprofessional recommendations. We order a lot of takeout sushi and my pick is Sancerre. Used to be more reasonably priced, but perfectly disinfects raw fish. It’s science. For a slightly lower price point and still hitting up a quality Sauvignon Blanc, Common Vine Craiglochart Vineyard Waihopai Valley does the trick!
And for those Gen Z-ers… or are you an Alpha? Rosie weighs in on her go to: I’m actually a Z cusper leaning Millennial (shoutout to retinol). In my house, meal prep has been the move lately. Thanks to a certain Instacart/Costco mishap, I now own a small chicken empire - so my go-to pairing is Bagoa do Mino Albarino Rias Baixas. Bright, citrusy, and just classy enough to make any sad Tupperware dinner feel slightly more sophisticated. Bonus: pairs perfectly with air-fryer experiments and the blind optimism that booking a 6 AM pilates class tomorrow morning is a solid life choice.
Now for the expert: Verity. Our ‘Duh Day’ cocktail is the humble G&T which elevates just about anything except your MIL’s ‘secret casserole’ which is both burned and undercooked at the same time. You’re on your own with that.
Grilled chicken? G&T. Burger and fries? G&T. California salad? G&T. You get the picture. Zesty, light and refreshing, pairing is as easy as ‘pass me a G&T, duh’ now. Our go-to gins these days are The Botanist, Roku, and Plymouth. Don’t forget to double up the lime!
We are working on a second pilot with Gopuff to see if we can uncover some additional learnings and keep the momentum moving with that partnership. More to come soon for you to check out when we’re in-market!
Did you make it all the way down here? You’re the best! You know we love words. Don’t forget that little ol’ survey, baby.
Cheers!
